so my comp has been overheating so i bought a new heatsink/fan and installed it but now, when i turn on my computer, no signal goes out to the monitor and im getting no lights from my keyboard/mouse.

wtf did i do, everything is still hooked up.

probably grounded out the motherboard by pushing really hard putting that heatsink/fan on. make sure the board isn't touching the case. Also, push your video card down really well, by pushing on the fan you may have bowed the board a bit and unseated the video card. You can do this same thing for the Ram, other cards, and cables just to be certain.

reseated everything, checked cpu for any damage, cleaned out all of the dust but still nothing.

from what i can tell, everything powers up, cpu fan, case fan, CD drive, vid card fan which is what really weirds me out.

only thing that isnt rolling is the video picture and im still not getting mouse or keyboard action

it have onboard video? could be defaulting to that if bios reset... just a thought.

video card require power from the PS? If so check that its plugged in good. If it is, it could be a myriad of things including the PS or the mb :-(

it does and its plugged in good and tight

its been time for an upgrade for awhile but i just dont have any money right now....

computer show this weekend tho!

back up and running with new mobo, cpu and PS i got from my brother, his old rig was a little better than mine and he wasnt using it anymore so its all good now :)
